The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) State Based Systems (SBS) has been updated to simplify license printing and review continuing education (CE) records without having to sign into an SBS Connect account. The North Dakota Insurance Department does not print and mail paper licenses.
Licensees (individuals and business entities) can print their license card free of charge when the license is first issued, upon adding a line of authority and each time it is renewed.
Newly licensed residents will not be able to print their license until their National Producer Number (NPN) is assigned. The NPN is used as the North Dakota license number and is usually assigned within 24 hours.
CE compliance records can be viewed and printed free of charge any time. Your record must show CE compliance before you can submit your renewal application. Submit a resident renewal application through the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR).
The license status, license number, lines of authority, expiration date and appointments can be viewed any time by using the public lookup. This information is up-to-the-minute.
If you have problems or need assistance, please contact the SBS Help Desk at (816) 783-8990 or sbshelp@naic.org. SBS is unavailable during maintenance, which occurs every Wednesday from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. CST, and the first Saturday of each month from 1-7 p.m. CST.
